In an effort to support and promote cultural tourism in London, Airbnb is pleased to announce it is backing an artist’s participation in the upcoming Art Night festival in the East End.
Güneş Terkol — a community-based artist from Turkey — will be displaying her work at Cass Interiors, London Metropolitan University & Middlesex Street Estate later this month. Güneş spent the month of May working with local Aldgate residents to draw inspiration for her piece. While teaching Londoners how to sew, Güneş spoke to the local residents and channelled their stories into a unique tapestry which she will unveil at Art Night, Saturday 1 July at 1800.
Art Night is a free contemporary arts festival which draws inspirations from the East End’s rich history and the cosmopolitan and creative environments of today. Using a collection of free art, performances and music, the festival showcases some of the world’s leading and up and coming artists. The evening, which functions in collaboration with the Whitechapel Gallery, is curated by independent curator and writer Fatoş Üstek.
