Airbnb is publishing today a new report showcasing the positive impacts of the Airbnb community in Rotterdam over the past 12 months.
Here are some highlights from the report:
- The Airbnb community helps diversify tourism – 1,300 Hosts on Airbnb in the Rotterdam have welcomed almost 70,000 guests into their homes. One in five travellers are Dutch and the majority of them are Amsterdammers.
- The Airbnb community generates new economic activity – Local hosts have earned a combined income of €7 million, while guests using Airbnb have spent an estimated €33 million in Rotterdam. Hosts on Airbnb keep up to 97 cents of every Euro they charge to rent their space.
- Hosts on Airbnb are typically regular members of the community – The typical host on Airbnb in Rotterdam shares their home for 34 nights a year and earns an additional €2,500 a year. The typical host is 39 years old.
- Airbnb helps cities accommodating big events – There were 1,700 guest arrivals on Airbnb during the weekend of the Rotterdam Marathon, an increase of 100% compared to the same period a week before.
