Airbnb joins the French Institute for Tourism

Today, we are announcing Airbnb is joining IFT, the French Institute for Tourism.

IFT, founded in 2007, brings together policy-makers, local authorities and centers of excellence, businesses and academia who share the common aim of supporting the French tourism industry.

By joining IFT, Airbnb will support the organisation in better understanding the tourism industry in France, improving its quality and competitiveness and preparing for the tourism of tomorrow.

There are more than 300,000 Airbnb hosts in France and together they welcomed eight million guest arrivals in 2016. One in six hosts are seniors and the typical host in France earn 2,100€ by sharing vacant space in their home for 25 nights a year.

Georges Rudas, President of IFT said:

“We are happy Airbnb has joined our organisation. Innovative forms of tourism are becoming increasingly popular in France and Airbnb has become anchored in our society. We look forward to including them in our efforts to promote France as a destination.”

Emmanuel Marill, Country Manager of Airbnb in France said:

“We are delighted to join IFT and look forward to working together to help grow, spread and diversify tourism in France. Airbnb hosts across France opened their homes to over eight million guest arrivals last year and we look forward to working with everyone in the tourism industry to promote the best of France to the world.”
