This year, Airbnb in London has teamed up with Artichoke, a company which works with artists to bring communities together to participate in large-scale public art exhibits across the United Kingdom in an effort to celebrate the suffragette movement.
On June 10, Artichoke will produce PROCESSIONS, a once-in-a-lifetime chance to take part in a mass participation artwork to celebrate one hundred years of votes for women. That day, women (and those who identify as women or non-binary) will gather in Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh and London to walk together as part of the celebratory artwork. Participants will be given a green, white or violet scarf to wear, to create the coloured stripes in the PROCESSION, making a colourful statement across the streets.
In addition to the marches, one hundred women artists were commissioned to work with organisations and communities across the UK to create one hundred centenary banners for PROCESSIONS as part of an extensive public programme of creative workshops.
Interested in participating? Register to participate as an individual or group. Attendees can also make their own banners to carry or attend a number of events leading up to June 10. You don’t need a banner to attend PROCESSIONS.
