On Saturday 20 May, approximately 150 hosts from across Ireland gathered at Airbnb’s headquarters in Dublin for Oscailte — an annual celebration of the host community.
The day-long event featured breakout sessions, keynote addresses and special guests. One of them included Airbnb host, Irish TV broadcaster and fashion designer Brendan Courtney. Brendan participated in a laugh out loud fireside chat where he provided hosts with tips, discussing entrepreneurship, hospitality and personal branding through his own experience as a host and guest on the platform.
The program was capped off by a magical announcement from Airbnb’s Chief Marketing Officer, Jonathan Mildenhall who was on hand from San Francisco to unveil the launch of Trips in Dublin and introduce some trip hosts.
Of the announcement, Mildenhall said, “We want to make travel magical again by immersing curious visitors in local communities and offering them the opportunity to see the true character of a city through the eyes of the people who live there.”
A happy hour gave hosts a chance to unwind and connect with one another before the presentation of the second annual Irish Host awards.
