Airbnb’s commitment to buying local

“SFMade Week is the biggest celebration of our makers and their products, and a unique opportunity for the public to visit and experience them. There are many different ways to show your love for all things SFMade, and Airbnb’s commitment to supporting local businesses is a great way to celebrate our incredible community.”

Janet Lees, Chief Program Officer, SFMade

At Airbnb, we are incredibly proud to support local businesses across the Bay Area that provide important products and services — from food and beverages to lighting and maintenance — to our growing workforce at our San Francisco headquarters. To mark SFMade Week, an annual celebration of local manufacturers, their products, and their people, we are excited to share our efforts to source locally and sustainably in our hometown.

  • 75 percent of our Food Program spend at our San Francisco offices supports San Francisco & Bay Area suppliers.
  • More than 43 percent of our Facilities Team product and service spend supports San Francisco & Bay Area suppliers of goods and services.

Leading with our values is something from which we’ve never shied away, and we are thrilled to support local businesses because it’s the right thing to do.

“Airbnb is a true partner to small and local business. Airbnb supports merchants by driving tourism to all areas of SF and also leads by making a big commitment to buy local goods for their global headquarters right here in San Francisco.”

Henry Karnilowicz, President San Francisco Council of District Merchants Associations

“At Airbnb, our team nourishes, hosts, and enhances the employee experience through food, because we believe thriving humans build strong communities. We care deeply about the meals that we serve at Airbnb and are committed to supporting businesses in our local community. This SFMade week, we are thrilled to highlight San Francisco and Bay Area suppliers that provide our workforce with delicious, local, food.”
