Brisbane Home Sharing Club supports local small businesses

The Airbnb Brisbane Home Sharing Club has had its first small business outreach meetup where hosts discussed how Airbnb guests spread the benefits  of tourism by spending in small, local businesses off the beaten track in cities like Brisbane.

Local businesses benefit greatly from our guests spending. Deloitte found Airbnb guests spent more than $331 million in Queensland in 2015-16, including $93.1 million on food and $59.4 million in shops. But we know that these shops aren’t always easily identifiable as having many Airbnb guests come in. As a solution, stickers helped identify shops that are “community-loved local business” and were distributed to hosts.

These stickers are a simple way for hosts to acknowledge local businesses for being a place they refer their guests.  Not only do they acknowledge the businesses to guests and travellers but they also reward businesses for being pillars of the community- for free.
