Connecting Aarhus hosts to local businesses in the Latin Quarter

Hosts in Aarhus came together on a rainy afternoon to support small shops in the Latin Quarter neighbourhood of Aarhus. It was the first Merchant walk of its kind in Denmark and showed some of the special places local hosts recommend in the second largest city of Denmark. The official tourist organisation VisitAarhus joined the group of hosts, sharing interesting information about historical sites along the way.

The Latin Quarter is the oldest and one of the most charming neighbourhoods in Aarhus. Here you will find a vibrant atmosphere with narrow and cobblestoned streets, all providing the perfect setting for an extensive culinary or shopping experience with small, chic shops selling one-off items.

La Cabra Coffee Roasters
First stop on the Merchant Walk was La Cabra Coffee Roasters, a modern coffee company established in Aarhus in 2012. A quaint café nestled in a historic building from the 1600s, with a roastery in the backyard. The dedicated team at La Cabra offered hosts a lovely tasting and tour of the roastery, getting a feel for the great coffee on offer.

GRAND Fromage
The charming charcuterie and cheese shop GRAND Fromage was the next stop on the walk. Owner Jens-Einar Lindbjerg Jensen greeted the group with a goodie bag full of treats and extensive knowledge on the art of cheese.

Briancon
Owners of Briancon bakery Karina Trosborg and her brother Kenneth Trosborg were very excited to be the third stop of the walk and hear how hosts recommend the small and cosy bakery that has important bakery traditions and an indomitable belief in extraordinary products at its core.

Vesterlauget
Last stop on the Merchant Walk was Vesterlauget, a small food bodega serving breakfast, lunch and one dish a day dinners. The cosy decor formed the perfect setting for the hosts to connect with each other over a drink and share their local Aarhus tips with one another.
