In July, more than 26 members of the Cork Home Sharing Club gathered in front of the National Monument on Grand Parade to participate in a historical walking tour around Cork. The group of home sharers were led through the series of historical landmarks by Cork native and city councillor, Kieran McCarthy.
The group were in very knowledgeable hands. In addition to being a city councillor, McCarthy is the founder and director of Cork City and County Heritage Services and author to several books about the history of Cork. The hosts gathered at the National Monument before embarking on a tour across the city.
The event enabled hosts to learn more about their city and is another example of how members of the Cork Home Sharing Club are taking action to be better community members and better hosts for their guests. The tidbits of information hosts picked up along the way mean hosts will be able to pass along more of the city’s history and heritage when guests stay with them.
