When it comes to exploring your own city, few places compare to Washington D.C. With a plethora of kid-friendly options, free museums, world-class restaurants and top-notch street art to devour, the District does not disappoint. That’s why when Baltimore local Dayna Bolden wanted to take her daughter Aria on a weekend getaway, she needed to look no further than her backyard.
By exploring the city through Airbnb, Dayna and Aria were able to stay in a cool listing in downtown D.C. and check out vibrant street art through an Airbnb Experience called “D.C.’s Most Instagrammable Street Art.” In a recap of the Experience on her blog, Dayna notes, “I also loved that we got out into the DC community and met some DC locals via the community group @walkwithlocals. The group meets once a month to walk the DC community and find cool locations to explore while meeting new people. The group meet-up is so cool because it allows you to connect with all genders, races and cultures. It was great for us to connect with the locals of DC.”
The last stop on the walking tour was the legendary Ben’s Chili Bowl. “DC doesn’t really have an official food but half-smokes are pretty close. Ben’s Chili Bowl is a DC staple, politicians come here to shake hands and meet with the community,” Dayna explained.
Dayna and Aria wrapped up their D.C. trip – as Dayna would say – with love, passion, and style – at their downtown listing, proving that you don’t have to go far to unearth some gems with Airbnb.
