Generating economic opportunity in NYC’s predominantly Chinese-American neighborhoods

Airbnb is bringing economic opportunity to households and businesses throughout the five boroughs.

A new report —which focuses on predominantly Chinese-American neighborhoods in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn— is the fifth in a series that explores the impact of home sharing on a range of New York City communities. It examines Airbnb activity in 2017 in predominantly Chinese-American neighborhoods in Lower Manhattan, Flushing, and Sunset Park.

It finds that in 2017, 1,590 Airbnb hosts in these neighborhoods welcomed 67,000 travelers to their communities, generating over $20 million for host families and millions more for local small businesses.
