Hosts visit NSW Parliament to share their experiences of home sharing

Airbnb hosts shared their hosting experiences with Members of the New South Wales (NSW) Parliament.

Mary, Greg, Jackie and other local hosts shared why they list their homes, units, or townhouses on Airbnb and why it is important for them to be able to continue doing so.

Members of Parliament and their staff heard from hosts about how important the income from home sharing helps to make ends meet, as well as the rich and diverse social experiences hosting guests provides.

MPs were briefed on the home sharing economy and the benefits it brings to households, communities, and small businesses.

Elected representatives from all parties were provided with information about the Airbnb community in their electorate, Airbnb’s Policy Tool Chest, and Airbnb’s Community Compact.

As the NSW Government responds to the Environment and Planning Committee’s inquiry into short-term rental accommodation and works towards updating the regulatory framework for home sharing, Airbnb and our host community welcomes opportunities to engage with elected representatives to provide insights to help inform the future of home sharing rules in NSW.
