New poll finds majority of Hawaii voters support home sharing

A recent poll conducted by David Binder Research revealed home sharing has overwhelming support across Hawaii. The rising cost of living in the state consistently outranks other issues as a priority in the eyes of Hawaii voters, and Airbnb is viewed as an important tool to help residents make ends meet. Other key findings of the survey of 500 Hawaii voters include:

  • Two-thirds (66 percent) of Hawaii voters support home sharing
  • More than 70 percent support allowing Hawaii residents renting out a room or their entire home while they travel
  • 81 percent support giving Airbnb the ability to collect and remit hotel taxes on behalf of our hosts and guests
  • Almost two-thirds (63 percent) identified cost of living as one of their two biggest issues, and nearly three in four (74 percent) agree Airbnb helps residents earn a few thousand extra dollars per year
