Today, we are delighted to present Christine and Fred, winners of ‘Maisons de France” for the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) region.
Earlier this summer, Airbnb launched a national contest – ‘Maisons de France by Airbnb’ – offering the Airbnb community in France the chance to find the listing on Airbnb that best represent the identity and history of different regions in France
The home of Airbnb hosts Christine and Fred was chosen by thousands of voters as the most iconic listing on Airbnb in the PACA region. They own a traditional local farmhouse in Quinson – known as a Bergerie – which they completely refurbished themselves and financed by welcoming guests.
Earlier this month, we travelled to Nice to award the celebratory plaque of ‘Maisons de France’ to Christine and Fred.
The plaque was awarded during an Airbnb host meet-up, held at the Rosalina Bar, near the Port. Over 80 Airbnb hosts came together for a night of togetherness, learning and storytelling with fellow home sharers.
On receiving their award, Christine and Fred, said:
“We are very proud to have received this prize and were very touched by the warm welcome by the entire Airbnb community. The Airbnb values were well represented; everyone was welcoming, generous, friendly and kind. This is a moment to remember forever.”
Emmanuel Marill, Airbnb Country Manager in France, said:
“I really enjoyed meeting the Airbnb community in the PACA region. They are regular people who occasionally share their homes and are proud of their region. After the tragic events in July, I was very proud to learn how home sharing supports local residents, families and businesses by attracting new guests to the region.”
Over the coming months, our French team will travel to all regions in France to present awards to the winners of the “Maisons de France’ contest. We will also meet local hosts and share new data about the Airbnb Community and how home sharing supports local residents and their communities.
Next stop… Bordeaux in the Nouvelle Aquitaine region on October 25th!
