The perfect sunny SoCal day is greeting racers arriving today and tomorrow for the San Diego Half Marathon, which takes place Sunday morning. More of those runners are using Airbnb than ever before.
This year, guest arrivals have jumped 135 percent over last year’s San Diego Half Marathon weekend — a testament to how many runners have come to embrace the benefits of Airbnb for race weekends.
It’s not just a low-cost way to get a lot of space and flexibility in accommodations, but it’s perfect for friends traveling together who need something other than the standard hotel setup — multiple bedrooms, for instance. But what runners like most is having their own kitchen, which gives them control over the all-important pre-race dinner; many serious runners have a particular dish they know they can count on to sit right and power them through the next day. Having a kitchen also makes it easy to get fed and out the door to the start line before dawn.
Best of luck to the San Diego Half runners. Have a great stay!
