See the Airbnb photo booth at DC’s “H Street Festival”

Boasting over 200 active listings and recently recognized as the platform’s
second most popular summer destination in the Washington, DC metro area, Airbnb was proud to sponsor the annual “H Street Festival” this fall.

Since September 2015, there have been nearly 12,000 Airbnb guest arrivals at listings in and around the H Street Corridor, and each guest spent an average of $146 per day in DC during their stay.

Additionally over the last year, the typical host in this neighborhood earned roughly $3,900 in extra income — contributing to a $4.2 million economic impact for the H Street Northeast area overall.

“As a native Washingtonian, I enjoy sharing my home and neighborhood with our city’s visitors,” said H Street resident and Airbnb host Simone Griffin. “Participating in the home sharing economy makes me feel like an ambassador for the District, helps earn extra income for my family, and shines a positive light on my community.”

Thirty small businesses along the H Street Corridor, including Sally’s Middle Name, Ethiopic and Smith Commons, have signed a letter of support for Airbnb and home sharing in the District of Columbia.

“Airbnb’s presence in DC is a significant revenue boost to our local neighborhoods — attracting new visitors from across the U.S. and the globe, and adding to the success of small businesses like mine,” added Teddy Folkman, executive chef and owner of Granville Moore’s.
