Meet Junior Freitas, Airbnb Host in Marseille

Earlier this month, we made our first stop–in Cote d’Azur–on our national tour called Maisons de France. We released an economic impact report and hosted an event in Nice to honour our Regional Ambassadors. There are many fascinating people to meet in the Cote d’Azur region, so we’ve decided to introduce our community to more of our hosts as we continue to tour the country. So, we want to introduce you to a host we met in Marseille: Junior Freitas.

Junior settled in the 15th district of Marseille four years ago with his girlfriend. When he started hosting at Airbnb, he didn’t think that he would receive so many guests in this part of town.

“The 15th district of Marseille has not a good reputation. But as soon as they set a foot in my apartment, they love it! I find it really pleasant to show that there are nice houses in the neighborhood. The 15th district is not only about towers and ghetto.”

“Most of the guests really enjoy my terrace, the view, and the calm. Many of them told me that they would have never come to Marseille should they had to stay in an expensive hotel in the center.”

“The City has to understand that there is no point being so virulent against home sharing websites. It helps people to travel, and makes the city move.”
