Meet Norbert, Airbnb Host from Paris

Nested on the 6th floor of a Parisian building, in Montparnasse, Norbert Chatillon says to himself everyday that he is really lucky to live in this former artist’s studio. He stepped foot in it by chance nine years ago, and had a real impulse buy, borrowing a lot of money.

“Airbnb allows me to pay the charges and taxes. I had planned to pay back my loan but I got surprised by the recent tax surge. I am delighted to pay taxes, but they were just too high” he explains.

He is a psychoanalyst, has a passion for reading and he wants his guests to feel at home by picking a book in one of his librairies. “One day, a fashion designer asked me to stay four days. He was already in Paris for work, and he was staying in a palace. He was looking for more charm and left a wonderful comment “At Norbert’s, I feel like I am at home.”

Norbert often welcomes guests who are interested in art and architecture. As he shares this passion, he tried to give them some advice, like going to the new Fondation Louis Vuitton designed by Frank Gehry. “I try to give them nice addresses of good restaurants and places in the neighbourhood”. “And when you rent your apartment, you need to keep it very tidy!”

One of her neighbours, who became a friend, is also a host. They often help each other to welcome guests. “We should create a host club in the neighbourhood to help each other”.
